Do not judge me for my cracks,
Instead know that I have stood strong through the wild winds, and the stormy seas.
Do not take my outward appearance as the sum total of what I am,
My resilience is greater than you will ever see by looking at me.
Do not laugh at me as I struggle to hold onto the beauty painted onto me,
For whilst I will do my utmost to retain the love and time spent on me, I also know the courage to let go with grace, and not try to hold onto something not meant for me.
Do not pick away at me, however satisfying it may be,
For each time you do, a little piece of you is also picked away. Please don’t exaggerate my seeming flaws, instead, be kind.
Do not be scared by my imperfectness,
For you too, are not perfect.
So as we stand together, you and I, in this moment, right here, right now, may you see me as a mirror.
May you smile upon me, and know that whilst sometimes we all appear or feel imperfect:
You are full of resilience for the battles you’ve survived;
You are courageous for the times you’ve let go;
You are gracious in your capacity to keep loving, to keep living, even when it seems so hard to hold on;
You are worthy of love and time being spent with you;
You do not need to put others down to feel better, for you are enough, because of your flaws, not despite them.
And you are perfectly imperfect, just as you are.
You are seen.
You are loved.
You are enough.
